Wurger, is there any information about the Polish MiG-23 #460? I would especially like to know as much as possible about the strange, in my opinion, paint scheme (I assume that this is its own Polish color). and the AIR SHOW POZANIA emblem.
 
What is a white border and why do some planes have one around the number and some don't?

Now I understand. OK. The white outline was added in the regiment in order to see the number better. Initially these numbers were of the red only but the colour wasn't noticable easy. So the numbers got the white outline. In a couple of pictures you may notice them with and without the outline because these images were taken at the different period of time. Here is the example ...

The MiG-23MF, s/n. 0390220460 .... made 05.08.1981 in USSR. Deliverd to the Poland on 25.09.1981. Servicing in the 28 PLM in Słupsk from 26.10.1981. The last flight on 08.09.1997. Removed from the register of the Polish AF equipment on June 12, 2001 and and transferred to the Military Property Agency. The camouflage of her isn't strange and the colours aren't the own Polish ones. . The plane was overhauled in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from 1990 to 31.05.1991. And the camouflage is typical for all Polish MiG-23 renovated there.

Regarding the " AIR SHOW POZANAŃ" emblem .... it is a kind of a commemorative badge that was applied on the MiG-23MF that were sent to the Ławica airfield in Poznań in order to participate in the International Air Show on August 25th 1991.

I would like to know what exactly was said about the export of the MiG-23 to Europe

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you be more accurate?

I'm not sure if the answer can be found at all. Perhaps it can be found in the book of Yefim Gordon and Ketith Dexter book "MiG-23/27 Flogger Soviet Swimng-wing Fighter/ Strike aircraft" by the Aerofax or other ones for the aircraft. I think the main reason for that was the USSR was the only source for a modern stuff for all countries belonged to the Warsaw Pact at that time. Here in Poland it was considered a very good plane. The Polish Air Force was going to buy the number of MiG-23s for three or four fighter regiments. Unfortunately the economical sytuation in Poland allowed to purchase 36 fighter MiG-23 and 6 UB ones only.
