Did the Mitsubishi A6M3 model 32 (Hamp) operate off of Japanese aircraft carriers during combat? And if they did, when did the A6M3 model 32 (Hamp) begin operating off of Japanese aircraft carriers? Did the Carrier Division 1 operate any A6M3 model 32 (Hamp) aircraft during either the Battle of the Eastern Solomons in August 1942 or the Battle of Santa Cruz in October 1942? I know that Zuikaku had model 22 aircraft by November 1943, probably a little earlier than that.

Wikipedia incorrectly states that there were some 22x A6M3 at October 1942 Santa Cruz.

There were only one or two Zero.32 flying off Zuikaku at Santa Cruz, if you google enough you will find it from reliable sites. The range limitations of Zero.32 were already well known by then so almost all were Zero.21.

All the large carriers in 1942 otherwise used A6M2, D3A1, B5N2. Even though the D3A2 was in service by later 1942, it had less efficient engine for range, so they kept well known D3A1.
