A 650 ft long steel(?) skeletal replica of a Japanese Mogami class heavy cruiser used for bombing practise at the Muroc Army Air Field (now Edwards AFB) in 1942. It remained there until finally taken down in 1950.

Unique? Or did other 'life-size' targets exist on Allied bombing ranges?

Derwent, Ladybower and Howden dams were used for practice runs by 617 Sqn prior to their attack on the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe dams, do they count?

Just a guess, but I think they're still there

The Mogami on the Muroc was also called the Muroc Maru. One of the many historic things that have taken place at Edwards.

If you go out to Rogers lake you could still find some debris left behind of the Muroc Maru. During the rainy season some of it pops up on the lakebed

Full-size fortress (timber and linen) constructed by Glenn L. Martin and bombed with oranges (timed to laid charges) from a Sky Yacht Biplane.
Year: 1913.
Place: Dominguez Hills (Near Los Angeles?)
