Monogram PBY5-A Catalina Flyingboat

ahoy here is another one of collections in plastic. I got this one for my 67th birthday 4 years ago I was surprised I never seen this kit before. Last Monogram kit of the PBY I built was in 1955 it sold for $.98 a lot smaller scale a little smaller then 1/72, Cool Cat it said on the fuselage an oldie. When I first recieve this kit I was excited as a child waiteing for santa clauss to come down the Chimney. This kit was based on the real machine located here in Ohio my state at the Wright Patterson Airforce Base Museum. The SNAFU CATCHERS. Monogram captured the old dumbo and all her glory in this kit a pleasure to build it took me 7 months to build I took it to the airforce base museum to compare to the real machine its all there.

Love seeing these old planes. During my days in the Navy I flew in P3 Orions, the grandchild of PBY's you could say.

Yes sir, Remember seeing them all the time back home out in California, My Brother he joined the nave right after I did. He was a airdale. Aviation machinist mad AD-J He turned to on A4-D Skyhawks and F-4 Phantoms also a few AD,s laying around stationed with VX-6 Point Magu Naval Air Station had a few P2-V Neptunes out there too. right after the Neptunes were stricken from the naval register the P-3 Orions were the sucessors. My rateing E7 Retired Chef Boatswain Mate who loves Aviation. I have a vast ship collection too. Thanks Jon your good sailor.
