Moteur, pale, rolls, lancaster??? Spitfire??? Halifax?

I am a new member, French 30 years old.
still passionate about military aviation.


I recovered there may be a lot of parts of a trash can from a metz track.

lots of British coins. comprising a piece of engine transmission rollers.

can you help me identify some parts?

Someone else here on the forum can possibly provide better information, but at first glance, the parts look to possibly be from a Spitfire.
Parts identified are the exhaust stubs, what looks like part of the supercharger rear casing, and the landing gear Oleo leg.
The stamp "Mk.Vc" may indicate a Spitfire Mk.V.

However, the exhaust stubs are not right for a Spitfire V. I also see a squashed fire extinguisher bottle. The generator 5U/189 is definitely British.

Could those be mosquito exhaust stubs or Lancaster ?

I agree about the exhaust stubs, and yes, they look more like those from a Lancaster.
However, some late Mk.V Spits had the six-stack exhaust ( can't remember which Merlin fit ), although again, the style in the pics doesn't look quite the same.
Question is, are all of these parts from the same aircraft, or perhaps a collection of parts from different wrecks, dumped / buried somewhere ?

first of all, thanks for your help.

all the parts on the photos were taken out in the same hole, near the old hangar hm17 of the "metz frescaty" aerodrome in moselle.

the base was Prussian, then French, then German, then American (40 p47 were destroyed during a bombardment.

several sptifire and lancaster crashed nearby and on the base from 1939 to 1943.

but all the pieces come out of the same hole.
I did not find any information on any British aircraft stationed at this aerodrome, or my questions about the presence of British pieces on the scene (except for the crash)

Plus, early Mk IX's used Mk V air frames. The stub looks deformed anyway so may not be a good indicator. Seems everything was run over with a bulldozer before being pushed into the pit.

The British generator is definitely a clue to me. Not sure that Packard Merlins used these. I read somewhere that Canadian built Lancs had generators marked 5U/389 vs the 189 shown.

Does that not look like the lower half of a Bf 109 MLG strut? The pins for the brake backing plate, & the large hex wheel nut, plus the joining collar from the bottom part to the top:

Looks like a good match. I went back to the original pics and noticed the towing eyes on the very bottom of the struts - wrong for a Spitfire and they are present on your sample.

I looked at dozens of diagrams without result.

in fact, the aerodrome was filled with bf109 during the occupation. but I couldn't find a matching schematic.

after one more day to clean under a weather worthy of the Channel ... the compressor begins to be presentable.

I am rather happy with the result, in view of the Us patent markings ... wouldn't it be p47?

anyway, i'm happy with the result.

my wife will be happy to have a piece of more in the living room.
