Hi gents,
I couldn't find evidence of use by No.81 Squadron (or, more in general, 151st Wing) Hurricanes of either 45 gal or Russian 80 gal droppable tanks.
Distances to cover presumably were high, and Hurricane had a short range: use of auxiliary tanks was desirable, but, given the fighters were shipped without even spare parts, I doubt someone cared to join some drop tank... Also, they remained in service with VVS, after they were handed off and 151st left for England, and for the same reason Russian could have fitted their own 80 gal drop tanks.
I would like to know what do you think about. Thanks.
