Hello all - my grandfather flew wounded US soldiers from either Africa and/or Europe to the States during WWII but he wasn't a member of the military.

I know he flew the DC-4 and the Lockheed Constellation during his career as a pilot but I am not sure which one he did the wounded flights in.

He was a pilot for Pan-Am.

Does anyone have any info or know of any websites about the government using the airline industry to complete tasks such as described above?

The anniversy of his death is today and I have been thinking a lot about him lately.

Thanks in advance.

M
