In my castle....
Just trying work out which units operated in these areas, of RAF, RN, Luftwaffe, VVS....
Another thing, was Svalbard ever occupied, by the Allied or the Axis?
Where were the VVS bases that far up north, close around or in Murmansk or?
If I remember correctly, Luftwaffe had airfields around Oslo, Kristiansand, Bergen, and Stavanger in the south, Trondheim, in the centre, and Narvik and Kirkenes up north, right?

It's not very often you see, hear anything about the air war etc., that far north...

Svalbard was occupied, at one time there were small forces from both Allied side and from Germany. Most of the time a small Allied garrison but there were times when it was unoccupied.
LW had also a/fs in the southernmost part of Norway, at Lister, Mandal and Kristiansand. At Bodö between Trondheim and Narvik. Banak was an important a/f between Narvik and Kirkenes. There were also several important a/fs in Northern Finland which were used by the LW.
Most Soviet a/s were around Murmansk and S of it alond the Murmansk railway but few were SE of it in Kuola peninsula and around Arkhangelsk.

Air units, too numerous to type here, the LW had LFl 5 in Norway, check that out, the RAF units were mostly the CC units of the 18 Group. Soviet were Red Army's 7th Air Army and the AF of the Northern Fleet.

Rovaniemi, Kemijärvi, Sodankylä, Vuotso, Ivalo and Kaamanen. Also in Petsamo, at that time still part of Finland were Nautsi, Salmijärvi and Petsamo. And in pre-1940 Finland Alakurtti and Pontsalenjoki.
