You sure about that? Did you mean 1942?

I see only 36 P38D's were built in all of 1941, and the initial batch of 210 P38E's were begun to be built in Sept 1941 (with this batch in production until April 1942, so only a fraction were ready by Jan 1942).

Warren Bodie has a figure of 205 P38's of all types were delivered to the AAF for all of 1941. And 124 of them were in Nov and Dec of that year.

The Model 322's were under construction beginning Dec 1941, stretching into July 1942. A few could have been delivered in Dec 1941. But not many.

Production began to increase steadily at the beginning of 1942. Bodies figures show 225 of all types in the first quarter alone.
