Yep, the 'Lost Squadron' was discovered in the 1980s. A flight of B-17Es and P-38Fs, outbound to the UK, force landed on the glacier in Greenland. The B-17s were photographed under the ice, but were already being crushed. The P-38 shown was eventually recovered, and restored to flying condition, and now graces the skies wearing the nose art 'Glacier Girl' - and there's even a 1/48th scale model kit of her, by Academy.
 
Wow cool! I thought it was a recent find because the photos look amazing. I'm looking her up rightnow!
