P-38 Lightning found in glacier.

Dude, that plane was taken out of the ice in Greenland and restored to flight years ago. Landed/Crashed there along with a few more Lightings and at least one B-17.

Yep, the 'Lost Squadron' was discovered in the 1980s. A flight of B-17Es and P-38Fs, outbound to the UK, force landed on the glacier in Greenland. The B-17s were photographed under the ice, but were already being crushed. The P-38 shown was eventually recovered, and restored to flying condition, and now graces the skies wearing the nose art 'Glacier Girl' - and there's even a 1/48th scale model kit of her, by Academy.

Was restored in Middlesboro, Ky. First flew again in 2002.
