Clave, I believe all P-39s used by the RAAF were hand me downs from USAAF squadrons in Aus and New Guinea. One source I have states they were most likely painted Earth brown and foliage green with sky blue undersurfaces.
 
Well I finally got round to trying to fix this:


Cool Clave.Colours are good but the yellow strip is still incorrect I'm afraid.I know why,the shadow of the vertical stabilizers misled you.There is Wojciech Sankowski's colour profile of the Polynin's P-39.
