Just a quick note:

I found 2 pics: p51A and at the very end run P-51H.

Amazing to see the development. It is even hard to see it is is the same base model.

IMHO, you can look at many WW2 planes from ealry to late variants and find similar differences. Check out the 109 C to K or the Spit Mk I to XVI or later.
