Question: how many HP could've mustered the engine from P-40F/L (also Merlin XX, but from Packard - the 1610-1?), for same altitudes?
 
The engine could have delivered the same power if it was allowed to.
The USAAF was little late in authorizing WEP settings and may have held the V-1650-1 to 12lbs of boost.
If any squadron mechanics had fiddled the boost control they could have gotten pretty much the same power. The engines did use a different carburetor which might make a slight difference (20hp? and no negative 'G' cut out).
 
all of those were interesting ac. were there any flight stats published or first hand accounts of how any of them handled?
