Anyone any ideas what squadron & base this is from ?

It's not a squadron, it's a Group, specifically 5 Group.

The crest normally tells what squadron it's from but looking at it now it is for the whole of 5 group.

Just out of interest this crest has just been found and no one can shed any light on it.

There are crests for different echelons of units, not just squadrons. The Groups in the RAF hierarchy had crests, as do a great many operational airfields. Above the Group level, senior HQs such as HQ Strike Command, also had their own crests. A number of joint units and training schools also had crests.
