I'm sure you mean RFC - Royal Flying Corps, the RAF came later.

The Royal Air Force was Formed on 1 April 1918, it is the oldest independent air force in the world.

Actually, I think you'll find the Finns hold the accolade of earliest independent air force - 6 March 1918.
