MD-90 is a re-engined MD-80, which were modernized varients of DC-9, was introduced in the late 1980s.
However, McDonnell Douglas MD-90 didn't get a good market because of the fame and financial of the McDonnell Douglas Company, MD-90 failed to compete with B737NG and finally stopped production by the Boeing company in 2000.
In 2020, the last MD-90s were out of commercial service, stopped carrying tourists.
MD-90 could be seen as a strenthened and electronically-updated version of DC-9.

General characteristics:

If someone cuts down a proper length of the fuselage in the middle of MD-90 to cut down its empty weight, it might be appropriate for it to be equipped with DC-9 aerial devices.
