Always hate to see any ship with history to it go to the breakers. This seems a better fate to me.

Agree that it is a good way for a warship to retire but i have mixed feelings...

As SCUBA diver and a history buff living in FL, I cant wait to dive on the Oriskany and the Vandenberg but intentionally sunk ships just arent very interesting to me... I'd rather go diving on a natural reef.

That being said, diving on an aircraft carrier would be a rare treat. I wish they sunk the Oriskany in shallower water. To stay within safe dive parameters, you cant go to the flight deck.... you have to stay around the island.
