Excellent selection.
The tricolor SBD-5s are VB-16 off Lexington CV-16 1944.
IIRC the blue over gray are dash threes based at Midway c. late 42 to 43.
Note Parts 2 to 4 as well.
Sidebar:
When we restored our A-24B as an SBD-5 in the early 70s we decided on the 42-43 color scheme. (My modeling background helped!). Our Wildcat escort used leftover paint from our project.
These photos were originally published in Life Magazine in the 1940s (thank you, Kodachrome). Google bought the Life Magazine photo library years ago and placed them in their Google Images account. Click on the link, hit the "View Full Size" in the bottom right corner of the photo box then click on the thumbnails to the right to move the next in line. Same and more photos in a larger format.
Thanks! Monogram reproduced the forward antenna perfectly. The antenna almost looks out of scale on the kit, like it was made beefy to stand up to some playing with a finished kit as a toy, until you see photos.
