Shell chips at crashplace of german fighter?

I've seen some odd parts at a crashplace. According to reports a german fighter crashed there in 1944. On the pictures you can see iron chips of a shell or bomb with a thickness of 5 to 15mm. Since I doubt the the fighter had a bomb with it I really wonder what that might be? Thanks for any inputs! - Kurtl

The fighter could easily have had a bomb on board. There were plenty of ground attack missions flown toward the end of the war.
