Single seat F-82?

I do know that the concept was studied, and one of my books on the Twin Mustang did say that the day fighter version could be converted into a single seater by removing the starboard (right fuselage) windscreen/canopy and most of that cockpit's equipment and fairing over the hole. But what purpose would it serve? I did read suggestions that it could've been a heavy day interceptor in that configuration, but how seriously was NAA looking at a single seat F-82?

Would it maybe make a good heavy interceptor (if more heavily armed, like with a gun pod) or a single seat night fighter (though having one pilot could be argued as defeating the purpose of having converted the F-82 into a night fighter).
