The later G-models really did stretch the aerodynamics of the breed while simultaneously doing nothing for its looks. The 'beule' bumps on the upper cowls howsing big gun breeches, bulges in the wing upper surfaces to accommodate a thicker tyre, cannon in canoe fairings under the wings and a drop tank all introduced drag, which the designers compensated with water meth and nitrous injection, but the petite wee fighter had reached its zenith already and its performance was steadily eclipsed by the likes of P-51s and Griffon engined Spitfires. The 'K brought back a measure of superiority to the design, but it was too little too late.
 
There were aircraft as slim or slimmer. I'd say almost all of the the inline-powered planes were unless they had an annular/drum radiator at the nose, Dora/Ta 152.
