The P-38J has many additions, mostly scratchbuilt. (Gun bay, side details under cockpit and port leading edge, all engine systems (hydraulic, cooling, oil, fuel system etc, nose and main gear, oxygen compartment in the port boom...) The only aftermarket sets that were used were the Aires cockpit, the Allison V-1710 and Brownings also from Aires and a vac canopy from Squadron.

The wings of the model were covered with plain kitchen aluminum foil using Microscale's foil adhesive...
