I don't know if anyone has heard of this before. I am reading the book 'The Right Side of the Line' by John Terraine where reference is made to 112 specially armoured Lancasters being ordered for delivery to Bomber COmmand in October 1942.
You are probably aware that some unescorted daylight bombing raids were made by Lancasters in 1942. Most of these didn't work but some did and this was an attempt to consolidate the success's that had been achieved.

I don't think anything happened, Harris was against it from the start and there is no mention of the planes being delivered.

It was new to me and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the aircraft, what changes were planned or anything really.

just finished reading that part of the book as well , and was unaware also of the armoued Lancs.
Its an eye opening book isn't it?

Weird thing is that his bomber crews are still fiercely loyal to him eventhough he did things during the course of the Bomber Campaign that many thought were not in their best interest such as removing the armour plating.
