We're currently working on a Spitfire MK XVIII powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon 65, and are encountering an issue related to the vacuum pump system. Specifically, we're looking for any technical documentation that could assist in diagnosing and resolving the problem.

If anyone has access to or could kindly share any of the following, it would be greatly appreciated:
  • Maintenance manuals
  • Parts catalogues
  • Overhaul manuals
  • Technical drawings of the accessory drive case, vacuum pump, or compressor assemblies
Any information, especially related to the Dowty B3X vacuum pump or accessory gearbox configuration on the Griffon 65, would be incredibly helpful.

We're deeply committed to preserving and operating this incredible aircraft as authentically and safely as possible. Any assistance from those who've worked with similar systems would be met with sincere gratitude.

Thanks in advance for your time and knowledge!!

My only suggestion is to look for early Firefly manuals as they used similar Griffon engines. I have part of AP 2234M Maintenance notes for the Griffon 74 for the Firefly 4, 5 & 6 but that uses a Hymatic compressor and has only 3 pages on the Rotol gearbox so is not going to be much use to you.

Really appreciate that! We're doing our best trying to track everything down. So far we should have it sorted. Thanks again!
