Spitfire or other part ? News photos

Better focused photos (or just simply writing them in the post) of the part numbers would make this easy for many aircraft.

Good clear photos of the inspection stamp(s) or good drawings of them would also help.

The inspection stamp in the oval appears to be *** on the top and 17* on the bottom. The round one is unreadable.

While it has intercostals like the Spitfire does, nothing else reminds me of that type.

Dimensions would also help - I am looking at it as an outer wing section but if it smaller it could be a tailplane part. It could even be a large aircraft tailplane. How deep the spar is would narrow the field

OK fine!
I will ask for more info and photos.
there were no fallen spitfires in this area.

The EEP inspection stamp means an English Electric produced part made at their Preston plant which produced Handley Page Hampden's and Halifax's.

Others may know how the Handley Page part numbering system works but I do not.

Basic design all parts start 57 = Halifax Mk I
Some parts start 59 = Halifax Mk II
Some parts start 61 = Halifax Mk III
Some parts start 63 = Halifax Mk IV
Some parts start 63 = Halifax Mk V
Some parts start 70 = Halifax Mk VIII
Some parts start 71 = Halifax Mk IX

The B signifies wing, the even number is for starboard

So the object is part of the right-hand wing of a Halifax.

57 in the part number, almost certainly Halifax. EEP, English Electric Presto stamp, definitely Halifax.
