Good evening,

I'm writing from the Moray Firth area in North-East Scotland, regarding my "barn find" near Inverness recently. I've just joined ww2a, specifically to find out more about the wheel I've found, with the intention of advertising it for sale, as accurately and honestly as possible. I've been told it's a Spitfire wheel, but I don't know how it came to be in the barn when I bought it some 40 years ago. Any help of any kind, particularly with identification and history of the manufacturer will be much appreciated. I hope the pix. are clear enough to be of help; I can take more if necessary, Just tell me which parts and angles would be best. Thanks in advance. Robert Huston.

What is the AHO number (wheel Dunlop part number) and tyre size.
Latter looks like probably 24x7.25-12.
Look for a small date (usually about 6mm numbers) about half way down the sidewall - not all tyres have them but many do.
From the cooling vents and fins in photo three I would say well post war.

Hello,

Thanks for taking time to read and respond, which is much appreciated

Before I do as you suggest, should I clean the wheel and tyre or would any purchaser expect/prefer "untouched" condition ?

Regards,

Rob

Selling is not permitted on this site so we do not worry about that and that probably depends on the buyer but I would expect that having a definite answer would be more important than a guess.
