Hello
I am researching my grandad during WW2.
My grandad was rear gunner in a Stirling BK779 of 90sqn, which I believe was hit by flak over Berlin on the night of 23/08/1943 and then hit by a night fighter coming down in the sea, three survivors including him were picked up after 7 days north of Cuxhaven.
I am interested in learning all I can but at present, does anyone have any information on the raid itself, operational plans (or where I can obtain them) or anything else that may be of interest.
The crew were:
Pilot - A/F Sgt Mulvey
Navigator - P/O Yeo
Air Bomber - P/O Sibbald
Wireless - Sgt Liang
Mid Gunner - Sgt Quickfall
Flight Engineer - Sgt Burland
Rear Gunner - Sgt Pighills
Thanks
Paul
