One thing I have not missed from being away from the US is the B.S. that has been escalating there. My Facebook page is littered with conservative and liberal babbling. The media is so biased it makes me ill just to read the headlines. And now my beloved sports page is just filled with opinions from people that I don't care about.

As a side note............Hey Lebron James, shut the f**k up. I could not care less about anything you have to say. You and Tom Cruise are equally as repulsive to me. I hope you become the next Tiger Woods

No matter what side you support (or care) about the sports people kneeling during the anthem, one thing is a fact. It has done NOTHING to change ANYTHING. Has poverty changed? No. Has it stopped cops from shooting black people? Nope. Has it stopped black on black crime? No. Has it stopped the black abortion rate? No. Has it done anything to help the Houston/Florida/Puerto Rico hurricane victims? nope. Has it caused further racial divide and amplified hatred? YES!!!!! If these people want to make a difference, get up off your knees, get out in the community, and make changes there. It's also funny that the NFL supports these protesters for taking a knee but condemned Tebow for kneeling for God. They told him to leave his opinions off the field. Hmmmmm

Anyway. My apology. I just got on a little rant there. My thanks to this site as a safe place where politics are verboten. I can read about sports and planes and military history and Jan invading Sweden again. None of that real life BS. I would rather know about the weather where Wayne and Hugh are than anything the POTUS is doing. I want to see the models that all our talented people are making instead of see a single picture with a Kardasian in it. I want to see the pictures that Gary posts with the Collings Foundation instead of photos of people tearing down monuments that they didn't care one thing about until the media told them to.

This is my safe place and I'm so grateful for it. Thank you Horse for providing our playground. Thanks to the mods for all you do. And thanks to the members that contribute every day!

Thorlifter, what I found when abroad was people discuss things back home too much, in fact more than they would if they were back home. I doubt very much that people in the USA discuss sportsmen kneeling 24/7 it just seems that way from afar.

We had the same thing last November over poppies on sports shirts. They never used to be on sports shirts but someone decided they would be, then FIFA decided it was against the rules etc etc etc. The problem should never have occurred and only did so because the media were paying for a game on the evening of 11th November. There were people with "principles" all over the net, but I never met anyone who actually cared in real life.

First of all........what is a poppy?

On Yahoo Sports page (mobile) here are the articles in order

1. Picture of the Cowturds with Jerry Jones kneeling
2. Spurs coach Popovich "Our country is an embarrassment" (First time I have ever not been happy with Pop)
3. White House: If NFL protests are about police brutality, players "should protest the officers on the field" (with picture of Dolphins kneeling)

On ESPN website 5 of the first 9 are about kneeling

But Thorlifter, that is only because everyone in USA affected by the hurricane has repaired all the damage and can now sit about ruminating about football! The press and the media love stories like this, they have even got pictures of the cheerleaders cheerleading for some reason. I guarantee that the broad mass of the USA population are just getting on with their lives while a small percentage are in keyboard warrior mode, and I have only been in the USA for two hours.

For my twopence worth, when I was at school I was taught kneeling is a mark of respect so it is more than a little confusing.

The poppy is the UK symbol of remembrance, it started from this poem.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Before remembrance day the Royal British Legion, a charity for veterans sell replica poppies to raise money for the charity.

More details here.

Very true Viking, but as should be sports and all entertainment. Get your mind off world events, sit back and relax and watch for a couple hours, maybe have a brew or 2. So there are few places left to go with the exception of a site like this.

For those tired of discussions about kneeling, you can become British citizens for a week. Topics of discussion this week are below.

1 Coleen Rooney is not wearing a wedding ring.
2 Prince Harry has sat next to a woman in Canada.
3 Pippa Middleton has had a hair cut AND ridden a bike.
4 People are baking cakes on television.
5 In sport Jose Mourinho moaned about something.

Now you understand the importance of being careful what you wish for.

Coleen Rooney is not wearing a wedding ring??????????????????

Ah, I can see we in the ex colonies are NOT being kept abreast of important news in international affairs.
Must write scathing letters to the New York Times and Washington Post.
It gets worse SR Google "Pippa Middleton rides bike" you don't just get one story you get dozens. They amount to "Man's wife's sister rides bike" She once, very courageously rode a bike after getting a haircut.

Pippa Middleton unveils new shorter hairdo | Daily Mail Online

Dare I ask who is Colleen Rooney?

And before anyone answers....yes, I know who she is, I just wish I didn't. Same-same for the Kardashians and any other no-talent, famous-for-being-famous individual (using the word "individual" here because I'd get banned if I wrote the words that are really going through my head).

This rant was brought to you by People Against No-Talent Suckholes (PANTS).

You will now be returned to your regularly-scheduled programming.
