A mere 21 years ago I was writing an article about WWII engine supercharging with considerable technical help from a friend of mine, retired USAF Lt Col Ward Duncan. In the process I realized that Ward had a pretty good story to tell as well. I wrote the attached and it was published in Air Classics. Ward and the other men of the 9th PRS really appreciated it; the story of their service had not been told very widely. Air Classics never paid me anything for the article; I really did not mind, because they gave it such an excellent treatment in the magazine. At one time you could find it republished (and retyped, with added typos) on the Internet, but that website is no longer available without going to The Wayback Machine.
Anyway. here it is, as published and almost as I wrote it.
