Which is a, or more good books about the Great Lakes, if you'd like to read more about the shipping history etc.?
 
Remember also that I watched a program where L. R. Doty were mentioned....

there was a tremendous amount of shipping that went ( and still does ) go through the great lakes. that is why there are so many ship wrecks there. good for diving too. the cold fresh water preserves them. you can dive woodedn vessels from over a 100 years ago and still make them out. there were battles with warship on the lakes. they were used for carrier landing training so there are still a fair amount of warbirds in the mud. you ought to find a truck load of info and books on the web.
