Lucky, check out Amazon.com. I did a search on Books about the Great Lakes and got a rather large number of Titles. Not sure exactly what your looking for but it may be a good start.

there was a tremendous amount of shipping that went ( and still does ) go through the great lakes. that is why there are so many ship wrecks there. good for diving too. the cold fresh water preserves them. you can dive woodedn vessels from over a 100 years ago and still make them out. there were battles with warship on the lakes. they were used for carrier landing training so there are still a fair amount of warbirds in the mud. you ought to find a truck load of info and books on the web.
