The "Smiley Face" Serial Killers

I heard about this on Coast to Coast, these murders of young college age men and a drawing of a smiley left at the crime scene. Happening in different areas around the nation.

Sick. Why do we bother to waste taxpayer money on trials and jail-time and such? Why not, once the evidence is conclusive, just take them out back and pop one in the noggin? Or....better yet...."do unto others".
