This is my finished build on the large scale Trumpeter Trop. The kit in the box is actually a G-2 with a lot of modifications needed to convert it to a F-4, particularly the angled wheel wells in the kit, the incorrect canopy and various vents and hatches on the fuselage that needed removal/repositioning. I also did a fair bit of enhancement in the engine bay including scratch-building oil tanks and extra wiring and plumbing.

The aircraft I choose to depict is Bf 109F-4 Trop, 6.JG3, W/No 10019, Gambut Libya Nov 1942, piloted by Lt. Josef Fritz. The scheme and decals were included in the kit. I understand that there is some discussion as to whether this scheme is accurate but looking at the available evidence I believe it is. I used lead wire for the aerials and they seem to have sagged a little (under their own weight?) since i installed them. I'll have a look at replacing them with fishing line, later.

Please forgive the makeshift background.

Gerry

Forgot to add - I agree about replacing the lead antenna wire. It looks a touch thick, and with time it could well take on a 'corroded' look, and will sag with contraction and expansion with temperature changes. Even in this larger scale, 'invisible' mending thread is ideal - with a coat or two of paint, it'll bring it more to scale.

Thanks to everyone who looked in so far and for your positive response. I will change the aerial wire when I get home Terry. The first probable outing for this will be in May and for that I'll also need to produce a base/stand for it. And Terry, I've sent a PM.
