Unable to identify a mystery tailwheel.

Hi,

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me.
I'm one of a team of volunteers setting up an aviation museum on the Isle of Wight.
This tailwheel was donated but as yet we have been unable to identify what type of aircraft it comes from. The tyre is the same size as those found on Hurricanes but the strut assembly doesn't appear to be steerable and doesn't match any drawings.
So far we've drawn a total blank. I'd be eternally grateful if someone could put us out of our misery!
