Any idea what this aircraft part is? It's from my great uncles plane which was shot down in South West Norway in 1942. Any help very much appreciated.

Possibly a hydraulic ram.
The Sir Michael Beetham Conservation Center, at the RAF Museum, Cosford, are currently restoring a Hampden recovered from Russia.

With Terry. Only a few things would have had hydraulic actuators: undercarriage, flaps, and bomb bay doors.

It's not from the bomb bay, they appear to be thinner and longer. I seem to have lost the ability or knowledge to insert pics, this link has some really nice pics. One shows the bomb bays and the other a nice pic of the landing gear.
