Pb - I am just guessing but it was common to assign a T-6 or Lysander or other such type as both a courier and/or a base 'hack' to get either flight time or instrument time w/o tying up other operational combat a/c.

I believe some of the basic information is free, but if you want more detail you will have to order the reports. For basic info I would start with the links syscom has provided.
