My father, T/Sgt Leslie Pelham Pitts, was a top turret gunner and flight engineer of a B-17 in the 731st Bomb Squadron, 452nd Bomb Group, based at Deopham Green Airfield in England from November 1944 until the end of the war in Europe. He flew 29 missions with the last two being food drop missions to Antwerp. I've begun journaling his story on my blog with five posts so far.

Post #3A - First Ten Missions

Post #3B - Second Ten Missions

Post #3C - Last Nine Missions

More posts will be forthcoming, including many recently found photographs of his mates in the squadron and some active flight (during training I think) and bombing missions.

Y'all stay safe!

Jim
