Without KNOWING the dimensions of the gun bay/s, the dimensions of the guns involved, the recoil forces involved any speculation is just wild guesses, even knowing those three things leaves you without knowing what the wing was stressed for, lots of little hammer blows form the .50 cal guns or a fewer but bigger blows from the cannon. Even if total recoil impulse is the same the wing structure may not react the same.
