Note that these were the first Airborne Interception radars, the first in a twin engined, 2-3 crew aircraft, the second in a single engined, 2 crew aircraft. Development of this was mainly for night-fighter use, both on the Allied and Luftwaffe side. Single seat fighters didn't get effective search radar until well after WW2, with reliable equipment starting to come on line in the 1950s. Earlier use of radar in single seat jet fighters was mainly for fire control/gunsight ranging use.
