The Prototypes for the Seversky P-35 and the Grumman F3F both flew for the first time in 1935. The first service deliveries were in 1937 and 1936 respectively, and they were both being phased out of first line squadrons in 1941. Let's put these two contemporaries in a theoretical, rhetorical, dogfight and see which wins. They come from two different design philosophies, The P-35 is faster, but the F3F has the higher climb rate. Feel free to speculate how either of these planes might have faired against contemporaries like the A5M, the I-16, the Bf-109B and the Hawker Hurricane I.
