ww2 bomb rack identification ?

I found this in an aircraft engineers workshop..i was told it may be a bomb rack..but i'm not sure

You have captured lots of part numbers but none ring a bell to me. Did you find any inspection stamps on the parts? If so those would help.
Given all the mickey-motion stuff with the shackle I would be suspecting more like a torpedo rack than bomb rack but the extra parts may just be coincidental to the shackle

A 162 prefix was used on the Martin PBM. Aviation Archaeology - Part Number Prefix By Manufacturer

here are some more pictures...i'm not sure if the latchs go with the green parts because the part numbers don't match..all the green parts have matching serial numbers

Thanks for these photos showing part numbers and inspection stamps. I presume the serial number you are referring to is S981162 as that appears on at least two parts. Serializing parts is usually reserved for parts that have either an overhaul or finite life and I am surprised to see serials on something that age. It almost certainly means the parts are hand fitted and not interchangeable with the same part off another assembly - unusual on ww2 mass produced American components.

The Heat treat stamp in the fifth photo is very distinctive but unfortunately not one I have seen before. Fafnir is a well known bearing company and the REB3N is still a common rod end fitting but the Casco REB3N rod end is not one I have seen before.

There is no consistency among the part numbers and inspection stamps so I strongly suspect that what you have is a collection of mixed parts. Unfortunately that colour green was a common US military interior colour so provides no help.

Hi i am actually in Australia..would the part numbers etc be different for Australian parts

No but there were Martin PBMs in Aus so the 162--- could well come from them.
Aus parts start 01-nnnnn, 03-nnnnn etc for Wirraway and other CAC parts and 82nnn for Beaufort with the odd E1nnnn thrown in on the Beaufort. Both Beaufort and Beaufighter used Brit hardware and your hardware looks US.
