The British Daimler Armoured Car comes to mind. From what I have read they were well liked by their crews and the unit commanders. They were fast, reliable, rugged, had excellent mobility for an armoured car, and mounted the same 2pdr gun as the Cruiser and Infantry tanks.

During the revolution in Iran in 1978 I saw some M-8s doing street patrol and on one day bloodying up a riot.
They were probably better outside a city, but these ones cutting loose, not pretty.

The Daimler was a far more sophisticated and a far more capable vehicle. Four wheel independent suspension with coil springs. Fluid coupling preselector transmission. Unibody construction. Rear steering position
