SdKfz 232 of the 5 SS Panzer Division Wiking Waffen SS....

During the revolution in Iran in 1978 I saw some M-8s doing street patrol and on one day bloodying up a riot.

They were probably better outside a city, but these ones cutting loose, not pretty.
Actually they were better off in the city, their off road performance was very poor.

From The Cheftains Hatch ETO Equipment Eeviews

"General: The Armored Cars, M8 and M20, had varied acceptance in this theater. However, on the whole, using organisations were not satisfied with the performance of these vehicles as they felt they were underpowered, lacked maneuverability, sufficient flotation for cross-country operation, and sufficient armored protection. These vehicles were not reliable, resulting in excessive quantities deadlined in maintenance shops for repair."

The M8s were basically a standard truck in drag.
The Daimler was a far more sophisticated and a far more capable vehicle. Four wheel independent suspension with coil springs. Fluid coupling preselector transmission. Unibody construction. Rear steering position
