I am involved with the restoration of the ex-Condor Legion Bf-109E service number 6*88. I have attached a photo of it from the Spanish Civil War and a photo of it as it is today. We are trying to find any photos we can of it while it was in Spain during the war. Any new and interesting photos would be appreciated. We are happy to swap a piece of the original plane for a good photo if you are interested. I have also attached a video of a low pass performed by a friend in his Bf-109G just for fun.

Regards,

Rob

Thank you very much Wurger! I have only a very low resolution of the photo you attached, and yours is much better. I also went to the source website and can't get over all the Condor Legion Me-109 photos. I was completely unaware of this photo archive and am still going through the photos to see if I can find additional photos of 6*88, maybe in the background.

Please message me if you would be interested in a piece of the original skin from 6*88's fuselage.

Regards,

Rob

Thanks Snautzer, the 12oclolckhigh forum seems like a very good one. I am not registered yet (registration is disabled) but I will check it out more as soon as I am able.

I have attached a video of the landing gear being tested during the restoration. I thought you might find it interesting.

Regards,

Rob

can I be curious and ask if the plane is restored to airworthiness ? It looks like it if you're bothering to get the landing gear working (not much use for that functionality in a standing display - right ?).
And as a German myself, where might we be able to see the plane (or finished plane) ?

Hi Grueni,

Yes, the plane is being restored to airworthy condition and is currently finishing restoration in Germany. The airframe is complete and the engine is nearly complete, but I would expect another year at least before it is flying. Meier Motors in Eschbach is currently working on the plane but they are not open to the public for viewing.

Does anyone know what the problem is with regstration for the 12oclockhigh.net website that Snautzer01 recommended? I have been trying to register for about a week now, and every time I try I get a message that "Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator." Is it something I am doing wrong? I have messaged the administrator but gotten no reply.

Thank you Woodhaven for the help. I know I said I would send you a piece of the fuselage skin for your help, but I think these two pieces are more interesting. We tried to use as much of the original plane as possible in the restoration, but some of the original pieces were not useable due to cracks. I found a box of these cracked parts and grabbed these two parts out of it. One looks like a longitudinal stringer from the fuselage, the other looks like a rib from a leading-edge slat. I thought they were more interesting than a piece of the skin. I will PM you to see which one you prefer.

I also have a new request for everyone. The Me-109s with the Legion Condor were originally fitted with canvas covers (Abdeckplane) for the cockpit and engine (see attached photo). These covers were marked "Bf-109" and had the planes Werk Nummer marked on them as well. We would like to recreate one of these covers for our plane, but we don't have any good photos of how they were constructed (the attached photos are the best we have. Same deal as before, I will trade an original piece of the plane for a better photo of one of these Abdeckplane. If you can come up with a photo of our plane, 6*88, with its cover on, I will come up with an even better original piece of the plane.
