So after some stash digging I found this in a box for a different model! Luckily it has markings for an aircraft which fits in with the GB which covers Malaya.

I have had this one kicking about for a while so it's a good opportunity to get it built. I have the newer tool IV as well so if this one builds up ok I may do that one next.

Some photos less the box art:

Plenty of parts to tease the carpet monster with 😂

Good luck with this build. I'm really glad Airfix took notice of current research and put the correct squadron codes on the decal sheet for Scarf's machine.

Ever since the 1960s, when Chaz Bowyer incorrectly identified a 27 Sqn Blenheim as the one which Scarf flew, we've seen repetition of L1134 being shown with the codes "PT-F". There was a long discussion on Britmodeller after the discovery of a Japanese photo that actually showed "PT-F" and it had an entirely different serial number. It also wore the Far East Command "day fighter" identification markings of a Sky Blue band around the rear fuselage, and the starboard wing underside painted probably) Sky Blue.

Thanks folks. The building is now underway 😀

This kit is unusual insofar as construction starts with the wings rear fuselage and lower undercarriage. The photos are hopefully self explanatory. Fit of parts is good and level of detail OOTB is more than adequate in this scale.

The kit has the option to display the bomb bay open and provides a pair of bombs to fill it.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers Greg 👍

Nice!! Odd fuselage
Hi George,

Yeah it does look a bit strange at the moment. I have the wings joined and this section of the fuselage attached so things should become clear shortly. The bit that's missing is the glazed nose with the cockpit, which builds up separately.

Cheers Greg 👍

Thanks to all for your comments and interest 🙂

I have a little more progress to share. Wings and fuse have been joined with no problems and I have assembled the pilot and observers station.

Next up will be the first big challenge: joining the cockpit walls and the glazing, which is split down the middle.

I'm off work today as it's a bank Holiday weekend and HRH Platinum Jubilee so more progress beckons.

Thanks for looking.

;)
