they have at least one sheet of 11/14th staffel and 10th staffel Sturmbocks- 4 on a page, the camo is all over grey but the white fuselage band is pronounced plus the ~ marking over the band - can't miss em

E `

yes the second one and here is the pic. Gerths Black 13 later had the outboard 2cm removed and replaced by 3cm Mk 108's and a newer up to date paint job, most likely this thing was shot down later or junked due to over-commitment in battle

Great pic Erich, thanks a bunch! Makes you wonder though, where on earth did they get the red from? Back to Bartels, G-10, would the "13" look more like this one then, Uffz. Klaus Lambio, in styling you think?

Gerth? I would have said some color-blind SOB was trying to do Bar's 'Red 13" and got alittle confused? :)

Got the decals today for two more "13's". The "Yellow 13" from 15./JG53 as the info tells on the EagleCals sheet, 10th March '45, Koblenz, Germany, W. Nr. Unknown and Pilot Unknown.

Among these were this set....:D As you can see Dan, it has been done in 1/48 of the machine that you like of Bartels, 48-383, different style on the numerals though, questions is, those oddly shaped round ones, are they correct? If you want to do her in 32 scale I'd guess that the number would 32-383, right fellas?

Now, is this the same 109F-4 that he flew with JG5 in Petsamo in Finland as the other two F-4's that we've seen here with W. Nr. 13169?

The funny thing is though, that this Aeromaster sheet comes without the decals so you don't get the white border around the "13". Doesn't matter, if we can figure out what style this F-4 had, I'll just get the FCM numerals etc. to do this one, IF these three are all the same "13169"....

 Just had a close look at the Aeromaster decalsheet... The "13" does have a white outline, but a very thin one....alot thinner than the sheet shows! They also show the camouflage as to be in RLM 70/74/75 and 76, with the yellow cowling, but the lower yellow wingtips as being unconfirmed....

Found a list over accidents etc. in Norway and Finland during the war... It shows that a Bf 109F-4 with W. Nr. 13169, from III./JG5, on the 21st March '43 had engine trouble, crashed at Petsamo Airfield with 25% damaged to the aircraft but pilot was uninjured....

Any chance that this might have been Bartels?

Makes me wonder about his crash in '44. When they found his Bf 109G-10 in '68, almost all write that they found his preserved parachute in the aircraft, nothing about a body. Did they just find the parachute and not his body in the '109, is he still MIA?

Lucky they removed Bartels from that beat up crushed 109G-10 and they buried him. he had his parachute fastened to him obviously he felt the sting of .50's from the P-47 Jug chasing him after he dispatched on eht US pilots - P-47

Then the "Black 13" decals are correct for his JG5 109F-4 Wk. Nr. 13169? Hopefully I'll be able to find out more about his G-10 as well, "Yellow 13". Tell me, was his G-6 Trop Wk. Nr. 27169 the last one he flew before he swapped to his G-10 Wk.Nr.130359?
