So I mentioned this as part of a thread on the main Modeling board but figured it would probably fit better here:

Aires makes two detail kits for the Ma Deuce. One is labeled as "Electric" and another as "Mechanical." I presume this is referring to either the feed mechanism or possibly the firing mechanism, but I haven't had a lot of luck finding out what the exact difference is. There's also a couple models I'd like to use them for (an F4F-3 and a P-51B) but I'm not sure which option would be the best for the particular aircraft. Has anybody got any ideas?

Electric had a firing solenoid that stuck out the back end of the weapon. The electric M2 was also used on the infantry's quad-50 mounts.

I would imagine that most, if not all, used the electric type...
