That would be from someone who has never seen or heard of "pickled vegetables" (I hadn't until I was in my late 20s - that was also when I saw my first pickled egg) and who was wondering if you meant "vegetables with pickles in them" or "vegetables that had been prepared like cucumbers are to make pickles".

Just had a meeting the other day about dishes. When anyone clears a table they are supposed to put the dishes in piles according to shape by the dish pit so the dishwashers can take care of them. Well some of the servers were putting the wrong shapes in the wrong pile. My GM starts off the meeting by saying, "Servers I know a lot of you have kids in preschool and you need to f****** join them because I don't think you passed." It was a very long meeting going over shapes and why circles and squares aren't the same thing. The bussers got free food though.

the "chips" they mention are cut from a very large potato into 4 x thick slabs, part boiled, then blanched in 130'c oil then cooked again to order at 190'c.So they could order the French fries. These would be larger and could occupy more room of the plate.
the 4 x chips weigh approx 250g.
i could of put 4 x 1000g chips on the plate and they would still say i only got 4 chips !
it was a special celebration for a birthday, yet they turned up ordered main course only, the brought a supermarket birthday cake as their dessert, spending as little as possible.
they said everything was fine last night when the service staff did check backs on them.
sold 12 more portions of the beef dish with nothing but compliments, go figure.
Karl I was sure the chips had to be of the correct weight. I have been served the similar meal a couple of times here in Poland. All was tasty although the dish didn't look like an animal fodder with boiled potatoes for pigs . The key is to delight in but not feed your face. So don't worry.

I would have drop kicked said cake right over the parking lot, and somebody in the front had better put earplugs in.
