5./JG51 Messerschmitt Bf109E. Crashed in sea off Whitstable following combat with fighters 5.35 p.m. Believed that claimed by P/O Zenker of No.501 Squadron. FF Hptmn Horst Tietzen (Staffelkapitän) killed. Aircraft Black 1 +. Buried: France, Bourdon Kriegsgräberstätte. Block 17-Reihe 1-Grab 10.

5./JG51 Messerschmitt Bf109E-3. Believed shot down by F/O Witorzenc of No.501 Squadron in combat over north Kent coast and crashed in sea off Whitstable 5.35 p.m. FF Lt Hans Lessing killed.

Lessing was Tietzen's wingman. Both knocked down by Hurricanes.
