Shown here is one of three Convertible Envoy IIIs used by the SAAF. Normally used as a seven-seat light transport the three South African aircraft could be converted for more war-like duties within a period of 32 hours. Other users of the aircraft included the RAF, who used two Envoys on communication duties in India, and a further five for home service in a similar role, and at least one of these was used throughout WWII by the Fleet Air Arm. Three additional Envoys were impressed by the RAF during the war.
