I was recently contacted by a Frenchman who has pieces of a B-17 in his shed...This was in response to a query two years previously on the website ArmyAirforces.com asking for info on a mission to Merseburg on 9/11/44..My late father, a pilot had been shot down that day..His AC was hit by flak over the target, fell 15k ft then was savaged by fighters before limping on 1&1/2 engines across Bavaria to crash near Nully France..The Frenchman, Henri, sent pictures of the wrecked B-17 taken a few days after the crash, plus pictures of the pieces in his shed.....Some of you might find these interesting...
