Italian jet fighter Caproni Campini No. 1 took off 28th August 1940. Italian propaganda claimed that it was the first successful flight of jet aircraft. Actually the first jet flight was launched a year earlier, than the German plane, Heinkel He 178.
Campini Caproni No. 1 does not actually have a turbojet engine. In the propulsion of aircraft (the author Secondo Kampini) used piston engine Built Fraschini l. 121/40 RC. HP 900 MW, which resulted in movement of a compressor that provides air pressure in the combustion chamber where the mixing of compressed air with fuel its subsequent ignition, combustion and expiration via jet nozzle.
